Title: Sunday Afternoons
Fandom: The Outsiders
Characters: Mrs. Curtis, Ponyboy
Prompt: Shapes
Word Count: 100
Rating: G
Summary: She was good at strange little things, like scissors and paper.

His mother's hands are graceful, folding colored paper. She shows him where the creases should go, how to tuck in this corner and that. And she lifts the scissors to the folded edges and snips, clips, cuts it up, and pastel confetti flutters to the floor.

Yellow, blue, green, and the special soft paper with thin stripes of color. She folds and snips and from her quick wrist-flicks emerge strings of colored shapes, boys and girls, ducks, hearts, stars. And now she smiles warm and golden, her dark eyes lighting up, and she hands him the scissors. “Your turn, Pony.”

All characters are the property of S.E. Hinton.
