Title: What the Trash Can Told
Fandom: Eureka seveN
Characters: Talho, Renton
Word Count: 105
Rating: G
Summary: It's easy to tell when Renton's depressed.

Talho pokes her head in the door. "Fess up."

He's deliberately avoiding eye contact. "What are you talking about?"

"Don't sulk." She holds up the empty bag of potato chips. "There are at least three of these in the garbage can. So what's wrong?"

"That has nothing to do with anything!" he protests; but she saw the surprise flash across his countenance, hears the desperation to cover up in his voice. The kid doesn't hide his emotions well.

She leans against the door-frame. "Every time you get all depressed, tons of these start piling up." She throws the bag at him. "So spill it."

Title: We
Fandom: Eureka seveN
Characters: Whomever you interpret it to be
Word Count: 233
Rating: G
Summary: I had the courage to go on because I was going on for you.

We cannot count the times we have stumbled. Tripping on our own feet, eating our own words, tumbling into situations which will leave our hearts permenantly creased with sadness no matter what greater joy we might later find - these have been the hallmarks of the course we have run.

I have watched you. All along, I have watched you. I have marked the changes in your eyes, in the way you carry yourself, in your tone of voice, even in the corners of your smile. The way our hands meet is not the same as it was in the beginning. I have marked these changes as proof of the course we have run.

And at times I faltered - this I know. At times I allowed the falls to get the best of me, and I paused, halted, planted my feet where they weren't meant to stay. So did you. But always we lifted our heads and saw one another at the end. Always, we tore our feet from the earth.

I have stumbled, tripped; this course has been one long fumbling toward you. I slipped and hit the ground, and the pain shook me, the bitterness overtook me; I hung my head because I knew that continuing to run would only fuel the pain, only provide more opportunities to stumble. And I knew it would lead me to you. So I ran faster.

Characters aren't mine; I'm just borrowing them.

i love the title: What the Trash Can Told. taking subtle, oft-forgotten tidbits of canon and drabbling them is one of my favorite things, along with brown paper packages tied up with string.
and i like to pretend that We is eureka/renton, because i wibble, but it's SO MUCH a talho POV to me it's hard to see it as anyone else. it's SO her. T^T;;;

Even though "We" is specifically meant to be open to interpretation, I kept thinking of Eureka/Renton as I was writing it. But you're right - it's SO Talho/Holland. Scarily so.

Here from a link from suzanami

These are both lovely, but I really like "What the Trash Can Told" because of Talho being direct and to the point. I love that she doesn't let anyone avoid the tough stuff.

(Holland is oh-so-lucky she's on his side.)
